Come fall, Christie’s will host a special sale to mark the 40th anniversary of one of the most iconic Patek Philippe watches—the Nautilus. The renowned British auction house has scheduled sales in four major locations across the globe—namely Dubai, Geneva, Hong Kong, and New York—October onwards, going on till December. Each sale will feature a range of 10 extraordinary Nautilus models, under the section named Patek Philippe Nautilus 40.

The 40 watches to be sold at this thematic auction will comprise models that date back to the inception of the brand to the most recent ones, including watches with rare variant of dials.

Over the years, the watch brand made progression in its design and technicalities, but it needed a timepiece that brought a revolution. And that is when the Nautilus came into picture.Since its beginning, Patek Philippe had a reputation of a traditional and conservative brand with designs that reflected the same. The Nautilus model was launched in 1976, and was a result of the brand’s idea to create a timepiece that combined a sporty spirit, strong design elements and an inimitable personality. The watch was based on the shape of a porthole found on most maritime vessels.

Patek Philippe, founded in 1839, has been following the tradition of Genevan watchmaking, producing and assembling techniques, and holds the position of the last family-owned independent watch manufacturer in Geneva.

Here’s your opportunity to take some time off, invest and take home the historic Patek Philippe Nautilus.
