Piaget is renowned worldwide for its ingenious mechanical movements and its expertise of creating ultra-thin watches. It was in the year 1976 that the brand unveiled its first collection of thin quartz movements; and ever since, the brand has not looked back. It started with Piaget 7P, which was one of the thinnest models of that time. But what is unknown is its path-breaking effort in manufacturing its own ultrathin quartz movements.

Today, as part of the 40th anniversary celebrations of its first in-house quartz movement—the popular ultra-thin Piaget 7P calibre (presented in 1976)—the watchmaker has introduced a new timepiece concept called the Emperador Coussin XL 700P. This new watch concept is a combination of two distinct skills mastered by Piaget—a mechanical calibre and a generator.

The new calibre 700P stands out from other Piaget watches due to its conventional mechanism, powered by a micro rotor that twists the mainspring. Apart from this, the Emperador Coussin XL 700P boasts of quartz that controls the speed of the rotation of the generator. This complicated mechanism dwells in a cushion-shaped case that has a diameter of 46.5 mm.

Unveiled as a limited edition watch, only 118 Emperador Coussin XL 700P will be produced. Each of which will include an ultra-thin generator, regulated with mechanical movement. This horologic creation is also touted as a standout watch that represents Paiget’s qualities of reliability and precision.
