Baselworld, the international watch and jewellery show, is a treat for watch connoisseurs across the globe; and this year was no different. From classic to contemporary and ingenious, the watches at this global event showcased not only the brilliance of individual brands but also the growth of the watchmaking industry as a whole.

Inspired by the era of classic yachts, this Swiss-manufactured watch boasts of a unique tourbillon.Highlighting one such watch today, we introduce to you the limited edition Ulysse Nardin Grand Deck Marine Tourbillon, an 18-karat white-gold timepiece unveiled by the Swiss manufacturer.  The tourbillon features a minute indicator that pulls a boom across the distinctly-designed wooden dial. This wood-marquetry dial of the Grand Deck is intended to look like the deck of a sailboat, made using teak.

The timepiece, according to the watchmaker, represents the spirit of Ulysse Nardin, the spirit of the sea and also the spirit of innovation.

Well, with its distinct mechanism and design characteristics, the timepiece is appropriately priced at a whopping $280,000.
