You might remember that it had been years ago back in 2013 when Breitling first surfaced the Emergency II timepiece. It was not till a few years later that the watch has been available for purchase, and much longer then before the Breitling Emergency II was legally available for sale in the United States.
With its ultra-light case made of Breitlight enhanced by a bluish ‘Dark Sapphire’ tint and its movement with a 30 seconds chronograph, the new Breitling for Bentley GT Dark Sapphire Limited Edition watch, pays a vibrant tribute to the all-new Bentley Continental GT automobile recently unveiled by the British car manufacturer. Issued in a 500-piece limited edition, its Breitlight case is made of a Breitling-exclusive high-tech material distinguished by its peerless qualities that include resistance to scratching, traction and corrosion, along with non-magnetic, thermal stability and non-allergenic properties. Its subtly black streaked effect takes on a bluish shimmer echoing the color of the Bentley “Dark Sapphire” livery. The dial features a diamond motif picking up the pattern appearing in several areas of the Continental GT interior and dashboard controls.
Powered by the COSC Manufacture Breitling B06 calibre, this movement is distinguished by its ingenious ’30-seconds chronograph’ system inspired by a 1926 Breitling patent. This chronograph is equipped with a central hand that completes a full sweep of the dial in half a minute to provide readings down to an eight of a second. This world-exclusive feature is highlighted on the black dial by the blue imprint that reads “30 Seconds Chronograph” right underneath the hands central pinion. The new Breitling for Bentley GT Dark Sapphire Edition is equipped with a black rubber strap that was specially created for this watch and which bears the same diamond motif as the dial, mirroring the padded leather diamond pattern lining the interior of the doors in the new Bentley Continental GT.
With a case size of 48 mm in diameter, the dial features 30-second, 15-minute and 6-
hour chrono registers and a convenient date aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock. The 47-jewel movement, provides a power reserve of 70 hours when fully wound while beating at a frequency of 28,800 vph. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters and fitted with a screw-down crown.
